The regional observability problem is explored for parabolic distributed parameter systems, considering the case where the given region is located on the boundary of the domain. More precisely, a procedure to construct the initial state on a part of the boundary is developed. The procedure may be adapted in time to observe the time current boundary state. The approach takes into account the structure of the sensors; the case of pointwise, zone and boundary sensors are considered. It is extended from the regional observability introduced by Zerrik and may be easily used for numerical implementation.
