Abstract

The aim of this paper is to establish necessary conditions for sensors structure (number and location) in order to obtain regional boundary gradient observability for linear parabolic system introduced by Zerrik and Bourray Int. J. Appl. Math. Comput. Sci. 13 (2) (2003). The obtained results are applied to a two-dimensional diffusion process considering various type of sensors. Also to explore an approach which achieves the reconstruction of the gradient on a part of the boundary of the system evolution domain. The simulations illustrate the established results and lead to some conjectures. © 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
