This paper investigates the Optical Parallel Interference Cancellation (PIC) technique for both DS-OCDMA and hybrid DSOCDMA/WDM systems. Advantages of WDM and DS-OCDMA techniques have been combined using two degrees of freedom in order to increase the capacity of network. In this configuration, each OCDMA code is reusable and sent simultaneously at different wavelengths. Performances are shown in the simulated results of the bit error rate (BER) in terms of data rate, fiber length and SNR of both systems. The comparison results with the conventional link PIC-(DS-OCDMA) indicate that our hybrid PIC-(DS-OCDMA/WDM) system can achieve successfully 10-9 BER with higher data rate transmission. With such system, the number of users per wavelength has been significantly reduced, compared to a purely DS-OCDMA system, which makes it possible to have the specifications of the GPON standard. © 2017 IAMOT.
