The forests ecosystems of the Jbel Outka Numidian massif, located in the heart of the Central Rif in northern Morocco, have in recent decades undergone great natural as well as anthropogenic pressures leading to significant changes in the forest landscape. The nature and intensity of these changes remain poorly known. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the dynamics of the forest landscape of the Jbel Outka Numidian massif, and to explain the causes, using a diachronic approach based on the integration and processing of multidate and multisource data (aerial photography of 1962, and 2017), using geographic information systems and remote sensing. The results obtained show a sharp decline in this forest landscape. © 2018 Geo-Eco-Trop. All rights reserved.
