In this paper, we are interested in the contact problem between a thin shell (3D) and a rigid punch. The context of this work is the isotropic elastoplastic material with large strains in the quasi-static state with the Lagrangian formulation updated for each loading increment. The augmented Lagrangian approach has had considerable success in the modelling of contact with friction in the last decade. An extension to our context of the approach proposed by Simo and Laursen 1 is proposed here, with a new way of writing the Coulomb Friction Law. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd.
