A numerical study of the natural convection in a horizontal channel provided with isothermal blocks periodically monted on its lower wall and separated by adiabatic surfaces is considered in this paper. The governing equations are solved using the finite difference method. The controlling parameters are the Rayleigh number (102≤ Ra ≤2×10 6), the Prandtl number (Pr = 0.72), the blocks' spacing (1/4≤C = l'/H'≤1), the blocks' height (B = h'/H'= 1/2) and their relative width (D = (L'-l')/H' = 1/2). The results obtained show that the spacing between the blocks affects considerably the flow structure and the resulting heat transfer.
